SO check out the selections here so you can see all the great prizes available to you as a dedicated fundraiser.

2009 Reach the Beach is on track to be our biggest and best ride yet!
Registration totals are nearing 3,000 riders and will be closed when we
reach that number of participants so we can maintain our high level of
support. We'll keep you posted on our website front page. Sign up
today to make sure you've got a slot on this wildly popular, incredibly
gorgeous and well supported ride.
Reach the Beach runs smoothly because of the 300+ volunteers who help us
on course and at the finish line. Volunteering is a great way for your
friends and family to support your ride and enjoy a beautiful day in the
Oregon countryside or at the beach. Volunteers are needed at all the
start locations, especially Portland and Grand Ronde. Volunteers get a
free hat and lunch, admission to our finish line party, a meal and all
the fun!

About Brian Reynolds
Brian was diagnosed with a rare cancer (chondrosarcoma) over 15 years ago. There is no prescribed treatment for this type of cancer and just after Brian's first Reach The Beach century ride in 2001, he had a lung removed because the cancer had metastasized. Brian rode many more Reach the Beach century rides with only one lung.
In a 2003 interview Brian reflected on the event, "My Reach the Beach ride was a tremendous personal achievement. I received a lot of good energy all the way around, between the support I was able to give the American Lung Association and the reminder of how precious every breath is."
Brian completed his final ride in May 2007 supported by an oxygen tank... and many, many friends.
Are you excited to ride? Over 2,300 people are registered to ride and we're well on our way to our goal of 3,000 riders. We've been working hard to put together for you an excellent ride full of all the amenities you've come to love and great rural routes that just get better every year. Come expecting the weather to be fickle; that's one of our signature features - and something we just can't control (try as we may). If you want to bring a change of clothes and other items for the finish line, pack them in a well-sealed bag. At your start line we will collect baggage to transfer to the finish line. It will be waiting for you at the beach, in the Rider Services tent.
We recommend you bring a water bottle or two and any special dietary snacks that will make your ride more comfortable. Expect a day full of excited riders, great food and tons of helpful volunteers.
We're doing everything we can to give you a great ride - we just know you're going to love it!
The majority of our riders participate in the Portland route. Please note that there is limited parking at the Portland start. We suggest carpooling or getting a ride. Illegally parked cars will be towed, so please pay close attention to the posted signs.
Sincerely,
Team Reach the Beach |
